Mission Statement
Our mission at Kingston Analytical Services Toxicology is to contribute to road safety by providing meticulous toxicological analysis of S5 and S5a road traffic blood samples. We are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of accuracy, integrity, and efficiency in our processes to support the legal and medical communities in making informed decisions.
Our History
Founded in 2020, KAST is a branch of Kingston Analytical Services offered by Kingston University Enterprises Ltd. With a team of talented scientists, Brian proposed the idea of creating KAST, a toxicology service offered to external clients for the purpose of Road Traffic testing. Together with experienced academics at the university, KAST became operational with an original team of three scientists.
In 2023, the growing team of five took the leap that they had been aspiring for—pursuing ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation from UKAS. This journey wasn’t easy. Over the course of twelve months, the KAST team worked tirelessly to refine their processes, implement robust quality controls, and ensure every aspect of the laboratory met the rigorous standards required for ISO/IEC 17025:2017. The goal wasn’t just to achieve a certification—it was to affirm the dedication, expertise, and commitment to excellence that had been the foundation of the business from the start.
By January 2024, all of KAST’s eight employees celebrated the success of the laboratory, with the official grant of our accreditation from UKAS. It was a defining moment for a company that, since its inception, had built its reputation on delivering high-quality forensic toxicology services with precision and integrity.
In October 2024, KAST was once again granted accreditation, this time against the Forensic Science Regulator’s Code of Practice (FSR Codes). As we look to the future, this achievement serves as a foundation for even greater advancements, ensuring that our clients can always trust in the quality and integrity of the work we do.
As of Novemeber 2025, KAST has been granted full S5, S5a and ATD accreditation against ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and the FSR Codes. The laboratory is now composed of 10 talented and unique individuals as we work towards the next chapter for us. KAST’s story is one of perseverance, excellence, and a relentless pursuit of accuracy—and this accreditation is only the beginning.
